AKSYON FUND TOTALING JPY431,399 OR PHP163,477.55 AWARDED TO CANCER PATIENT-OFW
Alona Lacerna Tenorio, 32 years old and married OFW with a child, came to Japan to work at Asahi Wellness Foods Co., Ltd. in January of this year. She was admitted at the Rinku general Medical Center on August 5,2025 where she was operated on her right breast which was found to be cancerous. She stayed in the hospital for eight days. She was discharged on 12 August 2025. She was unable to report for work for a month. She is currently undergoing hormone therapy after which the chemotherapy will commence. Worker had to reach out for friends to borrow money for her out-of-pocket net of insurance payment to the hospital.
She learned about the assistance she could get from the AKSYON Fund of the Department of Migrant Workers from her Philippine Agency who advised her to email us for her request for assistance. Alona was advised which documents to prepare and was given the application forms to fill up.
On 17 September 2025, worker came to the offices of the MWO-Osaka. She was awarded the total amount of JPY197,889 financial assistance and JPY233,450 Medical Assistance.
