Osaka, Japan – The Migrant Workers Office – Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (MWO-OWWA) in Osaka, joined the Philippine Consulate General under the leadership of Consul General Donna M. Rodriguez, in the celebration of the three-major events on June 6-7, 2026, namely: 70 Years of PH-Japan Friendship, 128th Philippine Independence Day, and National Migrants Workers‘ Day held at Minato-no-Mori Park in Kobe, Hyogo. With the inspiring theme: “Pistang Pilipino Kansai 2026”, the two-day event honoured the invaluable contributions of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and underscored the Filipino heritage, unity, and community spirit among OFWs in the Kansai region.
The two-day celebration kicked off with an opening ceremony led by Consul General Rodriguez and concluded with a brief introduction/statement of Atty. Manuel M. Dimaano, Labor Attaché and Head of MWO-Osaka, where he formally introduced himself to the Filipino Community, acquainted the OFWs of the MWO-OWWA services, and conveyed his commitment/assurance to prioritize the OFWs in Western Japan in his mission to advance the protection and promotion of their well-being guided by the core values of the DMW of providing services with compassion, integrity, transparency, and excellence.
On the sidelines, the MWO-OWWA also provided consultation and assistance services concerning employment contracts, verification of contracts, OEC, OWWA membership, and other employment-related concerns to numerous OFWs in various job and visa categories that greatly benefitted those who often face challenges in coming to the MWO to secure the needed services.
Moreover, MWO issued Certificates of Appreciation to the Filipino Community organizations and individuals that participated in the said event.
The event was highlighted by various contests （e.g. singing, band, Maharlika Queen, Gala, and Fun-run contests）and culminated in the performance of Aegis Band in the last day.
