Nagoya, Japan – The Migrant Workers Office – Overseas Workers Welfare Administration
(MWO-OWWA) joined Nagoya-Philippine Consulate General, Filipino Community groups,
Japanese partners, government representatives, overseas Filipino workers, and various
stakeholders in Central Japan in the three-day (June 19-21) commemorative celebration of the
70 th Anniversary of the Normalization of Diplomatic Relations between Japan and the
Republic of the Philippines held in Aichi Prefecture at Hisaya-odori Park, Sakae, Nagoya
City, organized by the Philippine Expo, which promotes deeper understanding and friendship
between the two (2) friendly nations.
A huge number of Filipinos flocked to Hisaya-odori Park to experience the vibrant culture,
music, food and celebrate the friendship and the strong bond between the Philippines and
Japan.
During the entire events, MWO-OWWA provided various assistance/consultation and
services concerning employment contracts, OWWA membership, other labor-related
concerns to a number of OFWs which greatly benefitted those who often face challenges in
coming to the MWO in Osaka for work-related concerns. Likewise, it was an opportune time
for the MWO representatives to engage the Filipino community and various stakeholders to
promote the Department of Migrant Workers’ programs, initiatives, and services and
strengthen collaboration and cooperation for OFWs in this jurisdiction.
Various live entertainment, cultural performances, delicious Filipino cuisine, exhibitions, and
special guest appearances highlighted the events. END
