Fukuoka, Japan – In line with the Philippine government’s efforts to bring its services closer to the Filipino people within its area of responsibility, the Migrant Workers Office – Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (MWO-OWWA) Osaka conducted a “Kamustahan” outreach initiative/session to almost 400 OFWs in Kurume, Fukuoka, on July 18-19, 2026.
The service activity aims to strengthen the Office’s engagement with the overseas Filipino workers working thereat and promptly address their concerns. The OFW-participants, mostly trainees and skilled workers in the agricultural industry, were provided with orientations on the MWO and OWWA programs and services, updates on host country laws, workers’ and employers’ obligations, financial literacy, and “Usapang Agribiz”, among other things. On the sidelines, a labor documentation assistance and consultation services on work-related concerns and issues, as well as OWWA membership, were likewise provided to the OFWs right then and there.
The outreach activity also serves as an effective platform for information dissemination, consultation, addressing workers’ concerns, promoting government programs and services, provision of immediate assistance, and dialogue between the MWO-OWWA and the OFWs. Likewise, it also provided the OFWs with a convenient access to government services on work-related concerns.
Through this initiative, it also reaffirms the DMW’s commitment to safeguarding the rights and interests, as well as promoting the welfare, of Filipino migrant workers.
