Osaka, Japan – In line with the commitment to supporting programs that promote the well-being of overseas Filipino workers, MWO-Osaka, represented by Atty. Manuel M. Dimaano, Labor Attaché and Head of MWO-Osaka, participated in the opening ceremony of the Season 7 Basketball Tournament organized by the Osaka OFW Basketball Association (OOBA) held on 02 August 2026 at the Sun Square Sports Center in Osaka.
In his message to the participants, Atty. Dimaano conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to the officers of OOBA for organizing the tournament which brought together members of the Filipino community in the spirit of friendship, teamwork, and healthy competition. He emphasized that the most important thing in the tournament is not only promoting the physical and mental wellness of the participating OFWs, but, more importantly, strengthening their sense of community and fostering camaraderie. He also promoted the upcoming programs of MWO Osaka for the OFWs within his prefectural jurisdictions including, among others, the recently conducted online cyber security awareness seminar for OFWs in collaboration with the NBI Cybercrime Division and the online trainings/seminars with TESDA NLSC, DTI, SEC, and NCMH.
OIC Welfare Officer Jonel Q. Habon was also in attendance during the opening ceremony.
The event was also an opportunity for the MWO representatives to personally engage the Filipino community members and interact with them to determine their needs and how the Office can further assist them.
